
Cloverdale is arguably the most marginalized sub-neighbourhood of the West Island (Montreal). A large part of this population presents the characteristics of poverty and vulnerability. Composed of Quebecois and immigrants from 53 different ethnic groups (40% African, 30% Haitian, 20% Quebecois and 10% Middle East), most of these immigrants have integration difficulties. 40% are single parents; 35% live under the poverty level and 65% are on the poverty level (yearly income : $12000 or less). 27% of these families have more than 3 children. 25.8% are under the age of 18. A large proportion of the under 20 bracket are without a high school diploma (Dropout rate of 20%); 30 % of the youth don’t attend school.
